Light painting in a photographic studio environment

Light painting at Studio Blanco, Oxford

This is a result of light painting experiments at the studio photography workshop, at Studio Blanco.

Light painting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source or by moving the camera. It is called painting with light because this is what you are actually doing while taking the shot – painting with light.

In this workshop we photographed Sammy and used small torches to light our model. The shutter speed varied from 15-30 seconds.

It is harder than it looks!
